The Perfect Books to Snuggle In With This Winter, According to Anabel Jimenez

I'm a December baby, so I guess you can say that winter is my favorite season! Let me set the scene for you: you're snuggled in on the sofa with your new book and that super soft throw blanket you just bought from Target, next to the lit Christmas tree, watching the snowflakes fall from your window, drinking a hot chocolate with marshmallows on top. Isn't this the coziest dream!? This can be you this season.

The books I’m Swearing by this winter are the perfect books to snuggle in with. They range in genre for every kind of bibliophile out there. And remember, we're still living through a pandemic, so stay home and read!

One by One

Set in a wintery wonderland, Ruth Ware’s latest thriller, One By One is the perfect book to pick up during the next snow fall. A slow burn whodunnit suspenseful thriller set on a snow-covered mountain in the French Alps—I mean, what more can you want in a winter read? After getting snowed in at their luxurious ski chalet, eight coworkers of a London-based tech startup start going down one…by…one. Make sure to read this one by a cozy fireplace!

In a Holidaze by Christina Lauren

If you loved One Day in December, then this is the perfect book for you to read during the holidays! For romance lovers who are looking for a sweet and fun holiday read, writing duo Christina Lauren is back with their first ever holiday novel. In a Holidaze is a super cute Groundhog Day story, in which our heroine relives the same holiday over and over again. Read this one while lounging next to your Christmas tree this holiday season, you’ll fly through it!

Transcendent Kingdom by Yaa Gyasi

THE BOOK TO READ THIS FALL. My most anticipated book of 2020. Yaa Gyasi’s Homegoing is one of my all time favorite books and so I plan to read everything and anything she writes. If you haven’t read Homegoing, go and pick that one up first, then pick up Transcendent Kingdom. That’s it. That’s the recommendation!

Black Sun by Rebecca Roanhorse

There’s no better season than winter to pick up a lengthy epic fantasy. Think Game of Thrones, but set in pre-Columbian Americas with diverse characters. Once you read the first chapter, you won’t be able to put this one down! Light your candles, serve yourself some hot chocolate, and dive into Black Sun by Rebecca Roanhorse.

Group By Christie Tate

If fiction is not your thing, here’s a non-fiction to read this winter. Earlier this year in March we had no idea that we would still be living through a pandemic this winter. Our mental health is so, so important at this time and Christie Tate’s memoir lets us into the world of psychotherapy groups. Let’s normalize therapy, let’s normalize talking about mental health!
