The Meal Delivery Service that Changed the Game for Me

I have a very intimate relationship with meal delivery plans — the good, the bad, and the ugly. I thankfully stumbled upon my new favorite Swear, Provenance, by googling “high-quality meal delivery service NYC” after finishing a really non-tasty, non-filling alternative. As a busy working girl who cares greatly about nutrition, wellness and the promise of more glowing skin, I found myself repeatedly disappointed by the services out there. I always had a dead sea scroll of complaints after sampling meals from competitors, ranging from “no taste” to “not enough protein” to “too pre-made tasting” to “I don’t want to drink my dinner.” There is no worse feeling than opening the bag containing your next few days' of meals and feeling your expression morph into a sad crying face emoji. Until Provenance, my experience was that these kinds of services were a form of punishment. I live to eat, and for me, food is not only fuel and medicine, it’s something to look forward to.

Caroll Lee is the dynamic founder and CEO of Provenance, an organic meal delivery service based in Brooklyn, New York. I was thrilled when Caroll signed on to be part of our robust editor community at SwearBy because she's a woman who "gets it" on a whole other level. A mother of two and a board-certified health counselor, Caroll’s mission is “to feed people real food—food that is raised, grown and prepared in traditional ways that are good for your health and good for the planet.” Amen! To Caroll, where the ingredients come from is as important to Lee as how they taste. Caroll's Swears reflect the type of service she has created, relying on good-for-you go-tos to lead a full and healthy life. Get to know Caroll and more of her Swears below. I'm obsessed with this change-maker and think you will be, too.

The O'CLOCKS Collection

“Adaptogens are a broad category of herbs and plants that help your body manage physical and emotional stress. The O’Clocks Collection from CAP Beauty are powders that contain adaptogenic mushrooms and herbs that help me feel alert and focused in the AM, revived in the afternoon, and ready for rest in the evening. Because they work with your body’s unique needs, they feel like they give me just what I need in the moment and nothing extraneous. I add the 8 O’Clock to my morning matcha latte, the 4 O’Clock to an afternoon tea, and the 10 O’Clock to hot water for a relaxing bedtime drink.”

Alo Yoga Airbrush Legging

“I would for sure live in these yoga pants if I could get away with it! Not only are they great for yoga, without seams in the wrong places, they’re very flattering and seem to sculpt everything into just the right place.”

Ancient Minerals Magnesium Bath Flakes

“Most of us are deficient in magnesium, yet this mineral is crucial for the function of so many systems in our body, including our heart, brain, musculoskeletal, digestive and circulatory systems. Lack of magnesium has been linked to headaches and migraines, PMS, muscle cramps, and even your mood. Taking a relaxing bath with these magnesium bath flakes is my favorite way to get a sufficient amount of this important mineral, along with a healthy diet packed with leafy greens, halibut, and black beans.”

Kait Hurley - Move. Meditate. Feel Amazing.

“I admit to being a lazy exerciser. I go through phases where I’ll get excited about a new workout or class, but have trouble making the time in my busy schedule to maintain a regular exercise routine. When I discovered Kait Hurley’s online workouts, I was hooked. Most of her classes are about 20 minutes long and require nothing more than a yoga mat and some hand weights. After the workout, she leads you through a meditation. I find it so easy to fit the class in when it’s only half an hour and doesn’t require leaving my house! And the consistency of the workouts, coupled with the meditation practice, is making me feel both mentally and physically strong.”

Provenance Detox — Provenance Meals

“This is my go-to when I need a reset and want to boost my natural beauty. What you put in your body is equally (if not more) important than any beauty products. By eating 100% plant-based meals, drinking superfood protein shakes that also contain probiotics, and taking a supplement that promotes detoxification, I’m clearing the toxins from my body that can contribute to listless hair, dull skin, and low energy. The program eliminates gluten, dairy, soy, sugar, corn, and meat and adds in loads of vegetables and plant-based proteins. Additional hydration comes via greens, teas, and chia frescas. And since it’s all delivered fresh to my home and comes with simple instructions, it’s so easy to eat clean and look and feel my best!”
