Our Favorite Skincare Products for Fall

To keep our skin glowing and healthy all year long, we need to make some tweaks to our skincare routine with the seasonal changes. That’s right: as summer’s warm weather and humidity gives way to drier air and cooler temps, we’ve been opting for richer and extra-hydrating products. Luckily, our amazing community of SwearBy editors are here to let you know which skincare swaps are essential for a seamless (and breakout-free) transition into fall.

Osmia Organics Spotless Blemish Oil

“Fall’s transitional days make it a lovely time to experiment with fashion (think oversized sweaters with knee-high boots and all the cozy cashmere!), but when it comes to skincare, it’s all hands on deck. With the weather shifting between still-warm, end-of-summer humid days to chilly, windy evenings, it’s a perfect storm for my combination skin to flare up and break out. As my skin takes time to adapt from my water-based, nongreasy moisturizers that are great for summer to richer, creamier options for winter, occasional bumps and white heads inevitably pop up. Instead of panicking (and overhauling my entire skincare routine), I turn to Osmia’s Spot Treatment Oil that’s a total miracle worker. This little bottle actually tames my acne flare-ups, and I’ve seen it eliminate bumps and redness overnight. It’s certainly the most effective acne spot treatment product I’ve ever tried, and the ultimate fall skincare must-have that I can’t live without.” –Nina Huang

Kiehl’s Rare Earth Deep Pore Cleansing Mask

“I’m extremely low maintenance with my skincare and beauty routine in the summer, but when the weather starts to cool down I make it a priority to get my skin back in check. Clogged pores and breakouts come around like clockwork when my tan begins to fade and my dead skin cells start shedding even more (goodbye until next year, my summer freckles) so using a deep cleansing mask is a must. I love this one because it’s made with Amazonian white clay and aloe and leaves my pores less clogged and my complexion noticeably renewed.” Jayla Andrulonis

Olay Regenerist Retinol Moisturizer, Retinol 24 Night Face Cream and 1.7oz + Whip Face Moisturizer Travel Bundle

“Now that summer is over and I’ll be spending less time hitting the beach, I’m re-incorporating retinol into my weekly skincare routine with this affordable option. It’s gentle on my sensitive skin, yet potent enough to improve my acne and dull skin. I actually prefer it to my prescription retinol (and so does my bank account). –Jessica Leigh Mattern

M-61 Hydraboost Collagen+Peptide Water Cream

“This water cream is one of my favorite new skincare finds. I massage a few pumps into my skin after cleansing in the evening, and my face immediately looks brighter and plumper. Plus, unlike most other collagen products, it’s entirely plant-based.” –Chrisite Calucchia

Freck Rich Bitch Cactus + Vitamin C Moisturizer

“It’s quite rare that I discover a face moisturizer that I love, but Rich Bitch from Freck Beauty has won me over. Its super rich formula is equipped with tons of nourishing vitamins, and it’s anti-pollution properties are perfect for city living. The tube is packed full of product that will certainly give you your moneys worth. I can’t rave about this luxurious cream enough!” –Maya Gandara

Goop Exfoliating Instant Facial

“This product is everything I usually avoid. It’s pricy, it’s from an overly buzzy brand (well, two brands), and it uses microgranules to exfoliate. Unfortunately, this mask chose me, and my skin adores it. The ultra-fine grains buff my skin ever-so gently when I manually massage it across my skin in the shower. The magic of this product though, is that it does so much more than your average St. Ives scrub. Once I’ve rubbed little circles over my cheeks, chin, and T-zone, I keep the product on for another three minutes, allowing the built-in chemical exfoliants to do their thing. My face is brighter, smoother, and softer straight away, and even more so the next morning.” –Laura Reilly

CeraVe Moisturizing Cream

“My skin can get very dry in the fall and winter, which is why I always switch to this heavy-duty moisturizing cream once the temperatures start to dip. It’s thicker than CeraVe’s regular lotion and locks in moisture to keep my skin looking and feeling soft and smooth all day long. I love how gentle the formula is and the fact that it can be used on both the body and face.” –Rebecca Carhart

Rosebud Perfume Co.- Rosebud Salve

“My lips tend to get unbearably chapped as soon as temperatures drop and I always turn to this lovely smelling Rosebud Salve. The jelly-like formula is extra thick so a little goes a long way to moisturize my lips. I apply it overnight and wear it like a mask to give my pout an extra dose of hydration by morning. I also love that it’s multipurpose so I can apply it to my dry elbows, cuticles, and even my face in a pinch. I keep a jar in my purse, car, and by my bedside table so I’m never without.” –Stephanie Perry

Nécessaire - The Body Exfoliator

“Whenever I think of skincare, I used to always think of my face. That was until a couple winters ago when my legs got so dry my skin flaked off and I refused to wear shorts even in the comfort of my own heated apartment. So now, I think about skincare more holistically and how it applies to taking care of my entire body. This involves a body exfoliator I start to use as soon as fall starts to prevent my skin from getting dry in the first place. I use Necessaire’s body exfoliator weekly, typically on a Sunday for a spa-like experience before my bath. It smooths my skin instantly and I find that using it routinely prevents my skin from flaking later on when it’s freezing. It also smells like Eucalyptus and reminds me of my summer spent outdoors — sometime I’ll be wanting to remember desperately as the temperatures continue to fall.” –Tara Gonzalez

Blistex Medicated Lip Balm

“When the temperature start to dip, I pop one of these lip balms in my bag. Not only is it medicated to help heal chapped and cracked lips, but it feels soothing as soon as I apply it. I love that it doesn’t feel greasy and has a pretty neutral scent. Bonus: Blistex also packs a 15 SPF that prevents sunburn!” –Katie Macdonald
