Designer Fashion Swears, From Business Meetings to Black-Tie Events

As a fashion content creator, stylist and creative director, it’s in Mimi Lombardo’s job description to keep up with the latest trends and to always put her most stylish foot forward. A previous editor for magazines such as Travel & Leisure, Haute Living Magazine and World Bride Magazine, and the current fashion editor for Ritz-Carlton and JW Marriott magazines, Mimi has perfected the art of curating her favorite styles. She’s styled luxury shoots and celebrities and knows what looks good on the pages of a magazine, on the red carpet and on the streets. This list of her current designer Swears provides some seriously drool-worthy sartorial inspiration.

Dumas Jacket by CAMILLA AND MARC

Looking for something new? The Sidney based sister and brother duo, Camilla and Marc are not a freshman fashion brand but for American cool-girls, they are a discovery. They are well-known in Australia and for their tailoring and sharply cut blazers—the kind that makes your jeans look top notch. Their presentation at a Soho loft space included their impeccable DB blazers and pleated trousers, but also diaphanous dresses and separates. Keep your eye out for these Aussies.

Small Maria Bag Snake by Gabriela Hearst

The fresh take on makeup at the hot ticketed show, Gabriela Hearst, was none at all. Ms. Hearst chose non-traditional beauties along with supermodels of the early aughts like Tasha Tilberg, all of them looking fresh-faced and baby natural. It is such a relief to see nature girls in this era of Instagram eyebrows and Kardashian plumped lips and I loved the neck-wallet which is the next evolution in hands-free chic.

Chiara Boni La Petite Robe Lobelia Asymmetric Rose Mermaid Gown

In my book, all clothing should be made of a stretchy, deliciously soft fabric. Easy to slip into and no worries when you’ve indulged in a rich dessert. Clothes that you roll and chug in your luggage—they soon become closet favs. The Italian designer Chiara Boni gets all that. With her collection made entirely of matte stretch fabric, laser-cut in simple easy-to-wear shapes. At her runway show, she took her formula to the next level. Ms. Boni sculpted fabric into dresses with 3d flowers, strong peplums, and floor-length caftans. The surprise? Bright 70’s vibe florals and watercolor prints in sorbet hues that made for a breath-taking show.

Naeem Khan Dresses

I hadn’t been to Naeem’s show in a while but in that time he’s developed a devoted fan base that caused a severe backup while trying to get into his runway show. But Naeem’s brand of Bollywood glamour is worth the wait. He started with slinky Studio 54 frocks and then injected sequined mini-dresses with sharp Balmain-like shoulders. The drama is fun to watch. As a stylist, I’m definitely going to call in the looks for my upcoming shoot in the Middle East and maybe put one on a celebrity but his dresses are one time wonders mostly for galas and red carpet moments only—not for everyday living.
