Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owen

For years, rumors of the "Marsh Girl" have haunted Barkley Cove, a quiet town on the North Carolina coast. So in late 1969, when handsome Chase Andrews is found dead, the locals immediately suspect Kya Clark, the so-called Marsh Girl. But Kya is not what they say. Sensitive and intelligent, she has survived for years alone in the marsh that she calls home, finding friends in the gulls and lessons in the sand. Then the time comes when she yearns to be touched and loved. When two young men from town become intrigued by her wild beauty, Kya opens herself to a new life--until the unthinkable happens.

This book was captivating! I couldn't put it down and finished it in 2 days. Once I finished it, I couldn't stop thinking about Kya and I keep thinking about her still. It's incredible the emotional rollercoaster this story took me on. This is a must read and has made its way into my top favorite books.

After reading what the book was about I thought there was no way I would like this book but I decided to give it a try anyway. Much to my delight it was one of the best books I have read recently and have since recommended it to several people & book groups. It was very well written and the story was very engaging from beginning to end. I couldn't put it down until I found out what happened. I don't know about you buy most book endings disappoint me but this was better than anticipated.
